Therapeutic Plasma Exchange (TPE)

Therapeutic Plasma Exchange

Our flagship treatment — a clinically validated procedure that removes aging factors, inflammatory proteins, and disease-associated molecules from your blood.

A clinically validated procedure that removes aging factors, inflammatory proteins, and disease-associated molecules from your blood.

What Is Therapeutic Plasma Exchange?

Therapeutic Plasma Exchange (TPE) is a medical procedure in which blood is drawn from the patient and passed through an advanced apheresis machine. The machine separates plasma — the liquid portion of blood that carries proteins, antibodies, inflammatory factors, and aging-related molecules — from the cellular components.

The old plasma is removed and replaced with purified albumin solution, while all blood cells are returned to the patient. This process effectively removes harmful or aging-associated proteins and replaces them with clean albumin — the body’s most potent natural anti-inflammatory and antioxidant protein.

TPE has been performed safely worldwide for over 50 years and is the foundation of all treatment protocols at Global Apheresis.

Conditions We Treat with TPE

A multidisciplinary team of physicians, scientists, and regenerative medicine specialists dedicated to advancing longevity, cellular health, and personalized care.

Alzheimer’s & Cognitive Decline

The AMBAR trial demonstrated that plasma exchange with albumin replacement slowed cognitive and functional decline by 52–71% in mild-to-moderate Alzheimer’s disease. The trial’s author list includes our Medical Director, Dr. Dobri Kiprov.

Autmmune Disorders

Remove the pathogenic antibodies and inflammatory mediators driving conditions like myasthenia graves, Gullain-Barre and multiple sclerosis

Longevity & Health Optimization

Measurably reduce biological age and optimize health span through evidence-based plasma exchange, validated across 35 epigenetic clocks.

Post-Infectious Syndromes

Address the persistent inflammatory burden
underlying Long COVID, PANDAS, and other chronic post-in.

What does it remove?

Circulating Mycotoxins

Toxic compounds produced by mold that can enter the body through food, water, or air exposure. Over time, they may contribute to inflammation, fatigue, brain fog, and immune dysfunction.

Auto – Antibodies

Proteins in the body can become misfolded or oxidized. These dysfunctional proteins may disrupt normal cellular processes and increase oxidative stress.

Inflammatory Madiators

Old cells that no longer function properly but do not die off as they should. Instead, they release inflammatory signals that can accelerate aging and tissue damage

Why does it matter?

The body naturally accumulates damaged proteins, inflammatory molecules, and aging (senescent) cells. Instead of being cleared efficiently, these substances can linger in the bloodstream and lead to chronic low-grade inflammation. This can lead to: Brain fog – reduced mental clarity and focus. Chronic fatigue – persistent low energy despite rest. Ongoing inflammation – a root driver of many chronic diseases

What to Expect at your visit

Before the procedure

A single-use sterile tubing set is connected to one or both arms with a needle.
Depending on the length of treatment, more permanent access options may be considered.

During the procedure

1. A small portion of the blood is cycled through the device. Less than a cup of blood is outside of the body at any time.

2. The blood is then mixed with a fluid that prevents it from clotting.

3. The system spins the blood in a centrifuge, separating it into plasma and other blood components.

4. As plasma is removed, it is replaced with a fluid recommended by a doctor.

Slowing of Alzheimer’s Progression

AMBAR Trial — multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study of 322 patients with mild-to-moderate Alzheimer’s disease.

Biological Age Reversal

Kim et al. (2022), GeroScience — first clinical evidence that TPE reduces biological age as measured by Horvath and GrimAge clocks, with Dr. Kiprov as co-author and clinical collaborator.
